Who is the Combined Lifestyle Intervention (GLI) for?
The GLI is for people who want to improve their lifestyle to reduce or prevent health complaints. The programme is aimed at people who:
- Have overweight or obesity: BMI of 25 or higher with increased health risks.
- Have chronic conditions: such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or joint complaints that improve with lifestyle change.
- Want to improve their healthy lifestyle: people who need help eating better, moving more or breaking unhealthy habits.
- Are motivated for change: willing to actively work on their health with professional support.
More about the combined lifestyle intervention
Over 2 years you work on an active lifestyle through behaviour-change coaching. The guidance phase and the maintenance phase each last 12 months. The coaching is provided by a lifestyle coach, dietitian and physiotherapist.
Your GP is the first point of contact at the start and arranges the correct referral. Without a GP referral the GLI is not reimbursed. During the intake with the lifestyle coach, inclusion and exclusion criteria are used to determine whether you can participate. If you can participate the costs are fully reimbursed by basic health insurance.
The programme has several phases — some group sessions, some individual. You work on the factors that improve your lifestyle. You stay in charge, but decisions are always made together with the lifestyle professionals.
With the physiotherapist you look at the right movement habits and with the dietitian at your eating pattern. The lifestyle coach maps all the factors to support a healthy lifestyle. The GLI is the guidance programme for improving lifestyle; the exercise itself is done in regular sports facilities in the area. We can also support you with fitness at our location.
The keys to getting the most out of these 2 years are perseverance, motivation and attendance at the sessions. Our experience shows that working on your lifestyle is challenging and fun. We start new groups several times a year. Sign up now.
